Story Telling

by Emilie Marcotte

What book were you reading when you realized your passion? When you first learned about respect and honesty? When you wanted to become an explorer or a detective? These children's books are the ones that shaped us and allowed us to create our own stories to tell.

Just like we can tell another about ourselves, a quilt can visually depict the events that have shaped us and tell the world of our experiences. In this community-driven project, Story Telling, a textile installation, we are able to see just how the town's favourite storybooks have shaped our young and young at heart. Each piece of the quilt represents one person's favourite book, and allows us to reminisce and discover new mind-shaping texts.
